Makes 4 servings, Prep 15 minutes, Cook 30 minutes, Total 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • Approx. 1 lb. Springdale Farms chipped beef (OR very thinly sliced flank steak)

  • 2 Tbsp. Olive Oil

  • 1 lb. Broccoli Florets (approx. 6 C.)

  • 2 tsp. Sesame Seeds (for garnish)

  • Scallions (for garnish)

  • 2 tsp. Grated Ginger

  • 1 Tbsp. Grated Garlic (4-5 cloves)

  • 6 Tbsp. low sodium soy sauce

  • 1 Tbsp. Hoisin Sauce

  • 2 Tbsp. light brown sugar

  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. Corn Starch

  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper

  • 2 Tbsp. Sesame Oil

  • 1/4 C. Mirin or Rice Wine Vinegar

Directions

  1. Combine sauce ingredients (soy sauce, hoisin, brown sugar, corn starch, sesame oil, black pepper) in a bowl or liquid measuring cup. Mix well to dissolve sugar and cornstarch.
  2. Heat Large Skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 Tbsp. oil. Add broccoli florets and sauté for 4-5 minutes. Stirring occasionally. Remove from pan when the broccoli is bright green and cooked to your liking.
  3. Once broccoli is removed, increase heat to high and add more oil. Add Chipped Beef in a single layer and sear until cooked through then remove from the pan and set aside. Depending on the size of your skillet you might need to cook in batches to get an even sear. Be sure not to overcook, they will cook some more when they simmer in the sauce.
  4. Add garlic and ginger and sauté until golden. Deglaze the pan with Mirin, Rice Wine Vinegar, or water.
  5. Add the prepared sauce to the pan. Simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring until it's reached desired thickness.
  6. Add the cooked beef back to the pan and mix until well coated. Add the fresh broccoli and mix.
  7. Top with sliced scallions (optional sauteed) and sesame seeds.
  8. Serve over white rice.

NOTES:

  • Sauce can be adjusted to your liking or substituted for what you have on hand.

  • To add another veggie to this meal, try serving with a side of sliced cucumber quickly pickled in rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, and sesame seeds
